‘It’s about the people you work with. I feel lucky to be back!’
We are pleased to share the good news that Lynn Rhodes, a healthcare professional serving the Greater Westerly community for many years, has joined the Olean Center as our part-time nurse.
Lynn worked as a nurse at The Westerly Hospital, Wood River Health Services, and other health facilities in the region before retiring from full-time work.
Lynn did some per diem work for us prior to the pandemic, and when she heard about this latest opening she recalled how rewarding the work was and how much she enjoyed working with the staff.
“I saw the position and thought about it, but I put off applying. But then I kept thinking about the clients and staff,” she said. “They believe in what they say, and their actions reflect that. They’re just good people, they have big hearts.”
Lynn is also impressed with how the Center has handled the challenges of the pandemic.
“They really reinvented their whole operating procedure for the pandemic since they couldn’t do group activities, so the building isn’t as busy as it used to be, but it’s not about the building – it’s about the people you work with. I feel lucky to be back,” she said.
In her role here, Lynn is responsible for case management, education, record keeping, and general coordination of all healthcare-related issues for staff and participants.
This vital position, required by regulation, is funded in part by donors who responded to our recent appeal for nursing support. Those donations were crucial, as they allowed us to continue funding the position as we continue to seek grants.
Lynn started Aug. 1 and will be working 15-20 hours per week.
